Long-distance move from Minneapolis, MN to Savannah, GA

Sky Moving and Storage WARNING!!!!

I recently moved from Minnesota to Georgia. I used Sky Moving and Storage. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! I wish I would have found this review site first. The pickup went well, but after they have your things and your down payment, it goes into a downward spiral. Customer service is not available. Horrible, horrible company. Costs are all false, just keep adding to the price. I dealt with a lady named "Donna". Nice at first then won't return your calls. Most everything got broken. The delivery involved 2 homeless people the driver found on CL. Several items didn't arrive. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! Don't say I didn't warn you!!! NEGATIVE 10 STARS!!!!

Negative Stars, Worst Moving Company Ever!!

DO NOT HIRE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!
TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN!
27 DAYS AND HAVE STILL NOT SEEN OUR STUFF!

Sky Moving and Storage will cheat, lie, and steal from you. Don't be fooled by the receptionists. They will make you think that this company truly cares about you, when in fact all it cares about it taking forever to deliver your stuff and charging you for things you won't even understand. They give you an estimate and tell you that this is binding and won't change when they come to pick your stuff up. THIS IS A LIE. They basically ended up charging us TWICE as much, and charging us for things that they said they wouldn't if we didn't want (mattress covers, bubble wrap). I figured that I'd to hire them because the estimate was just too good to pass up. I WOULD HAVE PAID DOUBLE TO GET MY STUFF ON TIME. AND SO MUCH WAS BROKEN.

They played it real cool when they came to pick up our stuff and said that they would take it to their free storage until we got an address ready for them to deliver to. They picked up our stuff on JULY 29th. I called August 1st to tell them our new address and set up a shipping date. THEY DON'T CALL BACK, first off, so don't bother leaving a voicemail. They told me multiple times that a truck was coming at the end of the week and would pick up our stuff to move it. 3 WEEKS LATER! ITS AUGUST 24th!!

So here I am, at my new house WITH NO STUFF. IT'S BEEN 27 DAYS SINCE SKY MOVING AND STORAGE PICKED OUR STUFF UP! 27 DAYS I HAVE HAD NOTHING!

I am absolutely disgusted by everything that this company stands for. They have no respect or even care for their customers who put faith in them that they can get the job done. The worst part about this moving company is that I depended on them, and once they have your stuff, there is absolutely NOTHING you can do to get your stuff. They will take as long as they like because they already have half your money, and know that they will get the other half.

Our stuff finally gets delivered and at least 10 things are broken (including valuables bought in foreign countries and heirlooms). I called them and they said I'd have to file a claim through a third party and WOULD ONLY GET 60 CENTS PER POUND!! PLUS YOU HAVE NO CLAIM IF YOU PACKED YOUR OWN STUFF!! Boxes had holes in them, tape removed, furniture scratched. THE BOXES LOOKED LIKE THEY KICKED THEM DOWN THE HIGHWAY FROM FLORIDA TO CALIFORNIA.

I'VE NEVER BEEN SO DISGUSTED WITH A COMPANY IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS COMPANY!

Long-distance move from Florida to Maryland

Move from Florida to Maryland.

Was in a jam as another moving company did not show.  called Sky Moving Monday AM and spoke to Lisa who was excellent and arranged for movers to come that day.  Movers came at 8pm.  Alvis and crew were excellent.  Very professional and very accommodating.  No nickel and diming.  I was very satisfied and do not anticipate any problem in receiving my delivery next week.

Long-distance move from Florida to Georgia

Stay Away at All Costs.

We were moving out of Florida into our first new home and we were very excited at what we thought was a decent deal.  Plus Sky Moving said they'd get us our stuff in 3-4 business days (multiple times).
So when they showed up, they said we had more stuff than we said online so the prices went up astronomically.  What can you do, we probably didn't report it right, we learned the lesson that you should always have someone come do an estimate (which a good company would offer to do).  This isn't even part of my complaint with them.  The guys packed up the truck, the mover told me 3-4 business days, as the guy we talked to on the phone had.  He even said he personally was making the trip (and it wasn't him at our next house).
Fast-forward a week.  We are sleeping on air mattresses, it has been 5 business days and we have no stuff or even a phone call.  We call them and rarely is there even a "dispatcher" in the office, but when we do reach one, he says he has the truck dropping off a delivery on Monday and it'll be there by Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest.  We didn't get our stuff for another 3 weeks, and correspondence with their horrible, lying office staff was minimal at best.  But again, our contract said in tiny little print that they had up to 21 business days, so I still haven't even started my complaint.
We get our stuff unloaded.  The guys chip a coffee table and an armoire on their way in and even though I see them do it, they said it was like that and about 15 minutes later produce the "official record" that was signed upon delivery to their warehouse that says those 2 specific items (and those only) were damaged, even though there was actual minor scrapes in some of our other furniture already which were not on their report.  Then as they're leaving, we realize our brand new set of pots and pans are gone.  They say they have nothing to do with it and they leave, saying I have to call the office to make claims.
I try for a week to call their office and their manager/dispatcher/etc have always "just stepped out" and will call me back.  I finally give up and write a scathing google review about them.  First thing in the morning, I call again and guess what, the guy is in the office now.  He immediately gets on the phone, asks what I want and when I tell him that his men lost (I didn't even accuse them of stealing yet) my pots and pans, he says that he will not even look for them until I take down my google review.  I was so outraged that I hung up on him.  I got my composure (and a tape recorder) and recorded the whole thing on tape of him saying he won't "help me out until I help him out".  I got a little smart-assed with him and asked if it was company policy to commit illegal acts of extortion whenever he or his employees steal something from the customer.  He told me I was full of [EDIT] (also on tape) and we argued for a bit.  At one point I even apologized and took down the review (b/c truly, all I wanted was the pots and pans).  He said he'd look into it but of course never got back to me and I just couldn't bear calling them back.
I did, however, keep the google review down for a while, because I was literally scared of them knowing where I live, this company is so shady.  The movers they send out are extremely unprofessional, shady people.  They whispered about our stuff in Spanish a lot, they lie to your face and then they steal their stuff.  Also, they mention by cubic foot, and I had a calculator out, multiplied the dimensions of a box that were written on the box, it came out to 6 cubic feet, and this was while I saw him write down 10 cubic feet for it.  Its a joke of a company, don't ever trust them with your stuff if you like your stuff.

Long-distance move from Tennessee to Oregon

Horrible.

Don't ever use this company. They were a day late, after I had already left the state. it took well over a month for delivery and when I would call I could never get a straight answer on delivery. When it finally arrived they couldn't get within 500 or whatever feet of my door so would not unload until I went and got cash, even though there was only one driver so my husband did more than half the work of unloading. Really I have to pay extra for us to do the work?? my desk was missing from the delivery so they estimated it at $102 (well below value). I got two checks for that amount, both bounced. UNBELIEVABLE!!  I was never reimbursed. this has been a couple years but I still may legally pursue. I have never been so disappointed in a company.

Horrible Company!

Company was Best Movers of America with good reviews. Total BS as it was actually Sky Moving and Storage. Lied about everything!! Everytime we called they said they didn't know where there drivers were and were rude and hung up on us! They outsource the work but said they did not. Lie! 2 1/2 weeks late! Broke almost everything (even though things were wrapped in blankets!) and lost boxes! Had a woman from San Francisco call me as she was given one of my boxes that had my daughters diplomas, etc. in it!! The price is not worth the hassle and there is no way to get your money back. We transported the tv and other very fragile items and would have lost those as well if we had not. Stay away!!

Never Use This Company (scam).

I was quoted $3300, paid $677 to pick up my items on April 26, 2012. The movers arrived and like so many other who have written a review, sent a truck that wouldn't fit all my things. Through the middle of packing they quoted aprox $8700. I had no choice because I had a closing on this house the very next morning. They finished packing what they could leaving the rest of my things in the garage. It was now about 12am midnight. They lead mover than calls the owner David and he tells him my total would be $11,500.00 and if I didn't agree he would take everything off the truck. I was supposed to pay them and additional $1330 before they left and David wanted more. By this point I had had enough and told him "absolutely not!" At this point I didn't feel comfortable with the move but I felt I had no choice. They were to keep my things one month free, which would be May 26, 2012. Lisa kept hounding me throught the beginning of May for more money. I than let them know that I would pay the balance by the agreed upon date for delivery. I paid my balance in full by June 4, 2012 by direct deposit as per Lisa via text to my phone. I agreed because the deposit was later than May 26, 2012 which was agreed. I would think these people would then delivery my things. Well, they didn't! I call over and over and No Response for weeks. I finally get my original contract and call the 877# and someone answers (Jessica). I explain that I have not heard from anyone about my delivery and she tells me to email (Diane). I have still to this date (Aug 5, 2012) received a response. I have spoken with Daivd who said he was on vacation with Lisa and he wouldn't be back until July 6, 2012 and I wouldn't get my delivery until than. I was at the local police dept in palm beach county with a deputy, who tried to reason with David. I filed a police report at that time. Needless to say July 6, 2012, I get a call from David who lied and said my delivery would be at my home on July 8, 2012, and No Show, No Call. I've gone to thier physical address with Broward County Police and Sky Moving & Storage Inc doesn't operate out of that address. I call David to meet the police and I there and he showed up 40 mins later only to tell us this business is no longer in business and that I owe him more money. To this day Ive had several call to Lisa who continues to play games with me and will not delivery my things. I have filed a claim with Florida's Dept. of Agriculture, who is now doing an investigation on this company. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH COMPANY! THEY ARE CRIMINALS!

Long-distance move from North Carolina to West Virginia

Very Unsatifactory Movers.

The original quote was 1056.00. I paid a 209.00 deposit. Upon pickup I was informed that there would be repacking fees such as 250.00 for repacking loose items and 100.00 for a 50cc scooter. Ok, I was reluctant but went with it because I had already paid the deposit and wanted to get my things back to me asap.

Next the delivery took several weeks and when the delivery did occur - whew - what I seen when they opened that truck. My things were in a pile in the middle of the truck. My 50cc scooter, that I paid an extra 100.00 for, was laying on its side amid the rest of my properties.

I gave the driver another 600.00 cash before they unloaded - Oh, and I had to help them.

As we unloaded the truck I was searching for my prized possesions, an HP Compaq Presario CQ60-220US Notebook Computer and my Docking Station for my HP TC1100 Tablet PC. Even unto the last Piece of property No computer or computer docking station. Gone!

Aside from the lose of my Deskjet plotter racks missing as well, my plotter seems as if it is damaged too.

My microwave looks as if it were dropped and my refridgerator drawers broken.

The tail light on my scooter is broken too.

The driver, or passenger - I don't know which, asked me to pay the remaining 585.00 so they could be on their way. I told them I would not pay anything more until I found my laptop. He showed no concern that my property was missing. He only wanted paid. I refused to pay for a job unfinished. He called the local authorities and they came and concluded that it was a civil matter.

The movers left without giving me a receipt for the 600.00 I paid them. They will probably deny I gave it to them.

Oh yeah, during my search I found several boxes and a breifcase that didn,t belong to me. The movers also gave me a couple of ladders that didn't belong to me and when I told them they were not mine they laughed and said "They are now, haha, Merry Christmas."

After searching my things on three separate days I still find no laptop etc.. I have been through all of my boxes and no go. They are gone.

I have called the company several times to get no response. The sad truth is that they do not care about their customers loses. They only want that money, and whatever they can get away with.

Don't use this company if you want your property to make it through safely.

Long-distance move from Tennessee to California

Worst Ever Moving Experience !! Worst Company Ever ! Dont be Fooled !

Dont ever get cheated by this company. I had a terrible experience. My sales person was Natalie. She speaks to you as though she really cares and remember she speaks to you only until you make a payment. You can not reach her by any means after that. She would make you believe that she really cares for your belongings. But no one in the company does. Here my story.

I spoke to Natalie and got a quote for 1900 for my move from Tennessee to California. I was promised certain dates. I was told that my things will be picked up by Dec 17th and delivered on Dec 27th. I was in a hurry as my wife was already in her third trimester. I spoke to several other companies but rejected them only because they told me that they would deliver a few days late.I also paid my deposit for car moving.

After confirming with Natalie several times that they would definitely not have problems moving the car during the Xmas holidays, I paid for the deposit for the car. My house stuff was to be picked up on 17th and car on Dec 26th.

Two guys came on 17th. One was Alex from Atlanta. They did not bring China boxes as I was promised and I paid for. They did not bring mattress covers and I paid for that too. He came and quoted $300 more. I had no other option as I had to move that day. So nothing as promised. We confirmed with him several times about the delivery date ..and he was silent. I sent all my stuff through him and me and my wife were left with few things. She wasn't doing that well in her pregnancy.

I got the real picture of the company on 24th december when no one called me for the car move. I could not leave the car alone and it had to be moved before my flight. I called several times, all of them were in office, one would pick up and would tell the other is not there. This happened the whole day until after
several attempts I got hold of David the owner. He spoke so rudely and his words were not right. He didn't even care a bit and was shouting. I mentioned to him that my wife is not doing good and it is not nice on their part that they are backing on what they promised. He asked me 'if she was dying'. He said I bet you
will not find a another company to move. Luckily I got hold of a very nice movers the same minute and they shipped my car in 7 days !.

After I reached California,I kept waiting for my stuff. I would call the office several times, no one would pick up, no one would answer. Natalie, David, Kim were all on vacation but would answer if you call from a different number. Me and my wife had sleepless nights. Our expense went up, we were staying in a hotel and eating out. She was not well. We were asked to talk to Alex, the dispatcher. He told us after 3-4 weeks that our stuff were still in Atlanta, the next state, about 3 hours from where I shipped my stuff. Alex never responded clearly. David/Joe said if we keep asking about our things, they would keep hanging on the call. He even told me that he was going to cut my call. He said if I have to talk to him, I have to listen to what he says otherwise he will hang up. When I once transferred to call to my wife, David or Joe told me to behave like a man. Can you believe this? They talk like this customers. I wanted my stuff to be released so that I can look for some good movers. They wouldn't release my stuff either. Finally after about 38 days I got my stuff. Furnitures broken. New matterress torn. Missing items. Plus I had to pay extra $300 to the driver. The only breeze in the entire story was the driver. He did a nice job of assembling the furniture but fortunately he does not belong to this company.

So, If you take their services, you will have broken furniture, sleepless nights, no clue about your things and the WORST EVER customer service in the WORLD !! BE AWARE ! The entire company is a cheat and Never ever go by the reviews on any other site. They all look forged !

Long-distance move from Florida to Tennessee

Rip off, absolute crooks!!

Do not use this company, they are a rip off, hidden charges, boxes and new fuel charges due to what they say is more cubic feet than estimated. As soon as we asked to cancel the contract they took the deposit from the credit card (we have since cancelled). They refused to download our household goods from the truck telling my wife it was illegal and we had a contract. They raised the cost from 2325.00 to over 4600 dollars in 4 hours. I am in Afghanistan serving my country and will come home to an empty apartment in Tennessee.

Sky moving and storage are criminals! Do not use!

Sky moving & storage are professional rip-off artists. I cannot believe what happened to me, so please read carefully and avoid this company. I initially contacted them because the facility was very close to my address in Florida. I called and obtained a quote over the phone. I listed all inventory items and estimated the number of boxes which would be filled in the packing process, as I needed packing as well. I obtained a quote of $1750 for the door to door service including packing, all supplies needed for packing, elevator fee (I lived in a high rise condo), everything! I was slightly surprised at the low price but was very thorough with the inventory list. On the day of the move, the men arrived on time and took a look at my things. He started doing some calculations on a contract and, when finished, claimed that I had more items than indicated in the quote and that the price would go up. He also began to add things like the "Long walk" to the elevator which was about 50 feet from my door. I was getting nervous and began feeling uneasy, but I allowed him to finish. When he was done, his calculation showed $2150, which was $400 more than the original quote. He went on to explain that this is a binding contract and regardless of future circumstances if I signed, he could not exceed this price. In my head, this number sounded more like what I originally expected, so I signed. The move then proceeded to start working, leaving the signed paperwork in the kitchen. They were friendly throughout the day, although the one who did the paperwork was constantly on the phone and not working nearly as hard as the other, resulting in 6.5 hours to pack the truck on a 1000 sq ft one bedroom condo (kind of long). As they were finishing the last couple of trips down the elevator, the mover said he just needed me to sign the final paperwork and they would be done. Well, guess what? Sometime during the day, he added a line item for "Packing supplies" on the paperwork and hand wrote a 6 over the 1, resulting in a $500 difference in the so-called "Binding" contract. The guy altered the document with my signature- fraud!! So, of course, I contested this paperwork, and his excuse was that he made a "Calculation error". I said no way, and called his company and got David, the so-called owner on the phone. This guy started to back the move up saying it was a simple calculation error. I was irate at this point exclaiming that I signed for $2150 and that's what I would be paying, not $2650. Well, the "Owner" David flat out told me that he would have the movers unload all of my belongings in the street! It was raining and I had a flight back to nm early the next morning, not to mention my lease was up that day. So I was basically extorted for $500 in a fraudulent scam. I had no choice, pay the money or be stuck on the street, in the rain, with my belongings on the ground!! I have never experienced anything like this and hope to never experience it again. I am in the hospitality industry and have moved a lot, and never thought something like this would happen. Do yourself a favor and do not affiliate yourself with this company. They are criminals!

Worst movers EVER!

First of all they said they were going to send us a 26 foot truck. When they arrived they brought a 24 foot truck that was already a third of the way full with somebody else’s stuff. I told them that there was no way our stuff would fit on that truck. They kept saying “Oh no problem, we will get it on there…”
We had sent them a very detailed list of things that they were going to be moving. They had the list with them. But their leader kept asking, is this going? I would reply yes, that is going. A few minutes later he would ask, Is that going? I would reply yes, it is on the list you have with you. A few minutes later he would ask, What about this, is it going? I finally replied; I don’t know what part of moving you don’t get… All this stuff is going! I am moving! That is what we hired you guys for, to move our stuff from this house to another one. They got out some blankets, and boxes and tape from their truck. One of the movers told the leader that they needed to get out more, but the leader said they had more than enough. So they began loading the truck and burying the rest of their blankets and boxes and tape in the back of the truck. Half way through the loading of the truck, they ran out of boxes, blankets and tape and were asking us if we had any, I told them no… that is why we hired movers and paid for packing material that is now buried on the back of your truck and you can’t get to. The movers were out in the parking lot yelling at each other and arguing with each other several times. It took them three times longer to load the truck than it would have if they had just sent an empty 26 foot truck. They had to try and strategically place each item on the truck and figure out where it could fit. The last movers I used,” two men and a truck”, were wonderful. They had the truck loaded in less than two hours. Sky moving took nearly six hours. They were not able to get all of our stuff on the truck. When we arrived at the new house, they just dumped the majority of our stuff in the garage. They didn’t set us up and unpack us like they were supposed to. They just dumped everything in the garage. Then their leader had the nerve to ask for a tip! I told him, first of all you didn’t move all of our stuff. I now have to go rent a truck and go back and get the rest of it. You took three times longer than you should have. You literally piled our stuff on your truck without blankets or protection, I have already noticed scratches on some of the furniture that you dumped in the garage. You have to be out of your mind if you think you deserve or are getting a tip from us. The leader even had the nerve to call back the next day begging for money. I told him he was lucky we didn’t persue a law suit. The absolute worst moving experience I have ever had in my life!

Horrible company from top to bottom.

The company was two days late. I had to move my walk out inspection back and leave my utilities on longer because the movers were late. Sky moving told me that the movers were running behind. How unprofessional for a company to miss an appointment. Sky moving didn't even contact me to tell me that the movers were going to be late. On top of that the operator was rude and loud with me. Worst Move Ever.

I'll just cut and paste the email I sent to sky moving, that has still yet to respond. Nothing from Natalie and nothing from upper management - they actually hung up on us when we tried to call because we had not got a response: do not use, ever!!

Here's the email:

Natalie:

I just wanted to let you know this was the worst moving company I have ever worked with. I am in the hotel industry and a general manager of a hotel here in Sarasota. I have been in the industry for over 21 years - customer service is what I live and breathe every day of my life.

I have relocated over ten times in the last 20 years, I have experienced all sorts of moves, from driving my own u-haul, to being packed and shipped to just hiring movers.

Our experience with your company was the worst I have ever encountered. What happened?

1) I never got a call from anyone on Friday to confirm my move date.
2) I left a voicemail Saturday morning, the day of the move, at 8:30 am - no - one called me back.
3) I called again later that morning and got someone who didn't speak very good English and was not polite at all - said she didn't have us down until after 2:00 pm. I told her I scheduled it for 1:00 pm. Every box, all the clothes and food we had already moved to the new house. All I had was the furniture - we even moved some of the larger furniture downstairs, so they wouldn't have to and we could start cleaning the carpets upstairs. Literally, all they had to move from upstairs was two beds, one chair, and two dressers.

So 2:00 o'clock rolls past and still have not received a phone call from anyone - so I call again. I believe his name was Michael that I spoke with, answers the phone and says, let me give them a call - he comes back and says that they are "Stuck in ft. Meyers at their last job" it's going to be at least a couple of hours. By this point, I am extremely irritated because my neighbors one building down had gone to pick up their u-haul, loaded it and were gone and I still didn't have the company that I paid good money to have no-one at my house yet. Michael was very rude - I explained my frustrations and all he had to say was "We don't expect you to sit around and twiddle your thumbs, it's your moving day and I am sure you have a lot to do". I was already done and planned that time so we could get to the new house and come back to the old one and finish cleaning. So he proceeds to tell me that they will call when it's thirty minutes out. So now we have six people standing around, so we decide to start taking more loads over to the new house. 3:30 rolls past, again I get no phone call. So I call the 800 number again - Michael says, let me call them and see where they are - he comes back and says, they are just approaching the exit, it will be about 20 minutes. I said really, 20 minutes because if they are approaching our exit, it should be five minutes. I ask at that time to speak to a manager and he says he is - that of course, he has a supervisor, but they are not there and that I should call next week.

So they finally arrive at 4:13 pm - Allen (the lead mover) gives me attitude right away upon arrival. He marks it down that he was there at 4:00 pm. Says he brought a third guy and he'll only charge me $10.00 per hour extra so it goes faster. I told him no, I don't need it, this job is going to take nothing more than 2 hours. He says to me "What do you want me just to sit around and watch them?" I said, I don't care what you do - I am not paying extra.". He said, "Fine, then I'll waive the fee". He didn't do anything anyway.

He proceeds to tell me he's not going to be able to put blankets on everything because it will take too long and if I want to keep it at the 3 hours, it can't be done. They loaded in less then 45 minutes, we drove 9 miles to the new location and they were done in less than 45 minutes again. He marked on the paper that he was there until 7:00, but they were gone by 6:05 pm - he said that's what he puts because it's a minimum of three hours. He totally would have had time to wrap the furniture in blankets how it should have been wrapped. Load time, drive time and unload time was from 4:13 to 6:05 total!!

The part about having to pay in cash seemed shady to me. The whole experience honestly seemed like a scam.

The first piece of furniture that they carried out was a coffee table that lifts up and instead of asking how it locked, one the guys just slammed it down and bent the locking mechanism. Allen went over and bent it back and said, there, now it's not broken. They would set the furniture on the parking lot and honestly, it seemed as though the two movers that were moving the furniture had no idea how to do it, they struggled with the dollie and were ver clumsy.

The follow-up, the movers, the people on the phone and the professionalism was the worst I have ever seen. I will tell everyone that this company should never be considered ever for a moving company. In addition, I will look for outlets on the internet to post my horrible experience, unless you are willing to address these issues and do something about the experience..

Sky moving and storage.

They did not clearly explain prices and then demanded more money or wouldn't unload truck. The actual movers were good, but the boss told them to work slower because it was an hourly rate. They showed up in the morning two and a half hours late and their truck was filled with junk already that they had to clean out before they could start and they included that in the time that I was paying for. They told me The day of the move that they could not pack mirrors unless I paid extra. They would cover mattresses only if I paid extra. They were out to get extra money any way they could. Do not use this company!

Dishonest, poor communication and unreliable.

I chose Sky Moving based solely on the 'glowing' reviews here at MyMoverReviews.com. Had I researched the mostly-negative reviews of this company in other websites, I'd have avoided them like the plague. They were dishonest, unreliable and didn't care about customers.

When I spoke with Shiri of Sky Moving, she told me to give her – on the spot - an inventory of all the items to be moved. That should have been a red flag, because one of the things that set apart reliable, quality-service movers from crappy ones is how they take inventory. The former either give you a list on paper to itemize (to be sent back to them), or send a representative over to do inventory. On-the-spot verbal inventory is a sure sign of crappy service. It is also very inaccurate because one cannot remember everything every time. For me, there were items I forgot to include and didn't realize it till much later.

According to Sky's quotation, the rates were based on weight and had a 'Tariff Discount'. Never heard of 'Tariff Discount'. I guessed it was intended to give the false impression that Sky provided the 'lowest' rate. It sure looked that way on paper. However, the quotation didn't matter. Because Sky wasn't the one that came by to do the moving. The one that did showed up went by a completely different rate and led to a much higher cost.

I called Sky again on June 17 to reaffirm the address, date and transport vehicle (smaller than semi-truck). A man on the other line reaffirmed it all. Sunday, June 27 came. Waited till late afternoon, but no phone call from the driver as promised by Shiri. I left two messages on the office phone, in part expressing my concern that no driver was going to show up. Then at 7pm, a woman (#512-981-9417) called to tell me that a driver named Bobby would be coming the next day (Monday). She gave me his number (after I asked her for it), from which I called him. He told me – over two calls – that our items would be picked up on Monday and delivered on Tuesday. He did not tell me straight up; I had to ask him specifically. By that time, I had an uneasy feeling that there would be more problems to come.

Monday, June 28. By mid-afternoon, driver Bobby neither called nor answered the phone despite several attempts to contact him. So I called Ms. '512-981-9417' twice. The first time, she said she'd try to contact Bobby then call me back. She didn't, so I called her an hour later. She said Bobby didn't have the PO. How would he be able to get to my place without a PO?? I was already worried. I then called Shiri. It sounded like she wasn't at work. Background sound suggested she was elsewhere getting out of her car, and there was a kid with her?? After expressing my frantic state, she said she'd get in touch with the driver. 30 minutes later, someone named Steve from Compass Van Lines called. He said he'd be my driver, and would get to me when he finished with his current job. Except he didn't know when the current job would end. He and his crew didn't show up till 9pm. This meant that our items would not be delivered until the following afternoon.

When Steve went through the paperwork with me, I was charged $2.80/cu. ft. for quoted volume, and $3.80/cu. ft. for volume that was over. Since I was allegedly 200 cu. ft. over, that was an extra $786.60. 20 extra boxes of 5 cu. ft. each totaling over 200 cu. ft.?!! [EDIT]! Furthermore, Compass charged me by the volume. Sky quoted me only by the weight – $0.81/lb within quotation and $0.90/lb for weight that was over! Not only that, Steve tried to fleece me by claiming his 'boss' wouldn't accept money order (for 50% of remaining quoted balance to be paid during pick up) that was made out to Sky Moving. In the first place, I didn't know Sky contracted the job to Compass until a few hours before Compass showed out, and that was late in the night on pick-up date. Even then, Steve wouldn't confirm the approximate time he would show up. Up to that point, I was under the impression that Sky was doing the moving. That was why the money order was made out to them. Yet Sky did not even have the courtesy to contact me 'prior to pick-up date' to confirm arrival as promised. Steve didn't care. The $528.00 money order was no good. I would have to re-withdraw the rejected amount plus the remaining balance. Total projected cost = $2804.00. I could cover $2276.00 (if Steve would accept the money order), but not $2804.00. Where would I get that kind of money? (The following day, prior to delivery, Steve said that he accepted the money order, so I only needed to provide the remaining balance.)

Compass delivered on Tuesday mid-afternoon, with some damaged furniture. The whole experience was a nightmare. Stressful, poor to no communication from Sky, prospective burned finances and plenty of wasted time. I learnt now what to look for in a mover company the next time I relocate. Certainly not Sky Moving and Compass Van Lines. Any company that doesn't charge by volume isn't to be trusted. Furthermore, Sky did not offer an GNTE (Guarantee Not To Exceed) proposal, which allowed them and the contracted movers to charge me whatever obscene amount they wanted. But one question remained unanswered. Who was Bobby (#512-981-9418) and Ms. '512-981-9417'? What did they have to do with the moving?

They will cheat you out of every dime they can!

Sky Moving and Storage will quote you a wonderfully low rate, promising no hidden fees and no extra charges. When they arrive (which for me was 6 hours late). They will add on fees for everything imaginable, including packing tape that they use to wrap around your furniture pads. They charged me for stairs despite the contract saying no charge for the first set. They added on about $600 worth of fees that were not disclosed previously. They illegally charge extra based on the laws that protect consumers from moving companies. A company can charge a flat rate based on estimated weight with no extra fees or can charge a variable rate based on actual weight plus fees. They will charge a high flat rate, plus fees. They also damaged my furniture, were told to pay me for the damages and now refuse to do so. They will not respond to my emails, and the last time I called them, they hung up on me. In all, I lost over $800 due to their scams, plus a whole lot of stress and sleepless nights from worrying.

Dishonest - Do not use.

Company did not call they day prior to moving to confirm arrival time - I had to call them. Was told that they would be at my house at 09:00. The driver called me the day of moving at 10:00 to say that they were in Orlando and would not be at my house until 14:00 - I was asked was I cool with that. I was asked by the driver how much they quoted me, when I told him, he told me that it was going cost more, a lot more!
When they finally arrived, the first thing I was told was that it was going to cost me twice as much as quoted.
When I told them I had a coupon I was told "you honestly think they are going to let you use that"
I paid for three movers, one of them turned up an hour after the other two arrived.
Because this company insists on you paying them cash on the day of moving, I told the movers I would have to go to the ATM as now I was going to have to pay more than I had previously thought.
They followed me to the ATM, as I was at the ATM removing cash, the lead person got out of the truck and told me that they were expecting a tip! (I felt intimidated and threatend)
Once at my new home, I noticed that they had let several items behind, most of my furniture was scratched and the corner of my computer desk was completely chipped off.
I reported them to the BBB - they denied everything. I filed a claim with their claim company - they refused to pay.
What ever you do - do not use this company.

Terrible Customer Service, False Representation..Stay Away!!

This is not a legitimate company and if I could’ve given 0 stars I would have. I scheduled a move on July 6th for August 1st with the sister company, after which seeing various information which made me concerned to have our items moved by them I called to cancel and request a refund. The “manager” I spoke to was extremely rude and unprofessional, stating in a snarky manner that I apparently didn’t read the contract because I needed send an email to cancel. He also proceeded to raise his voice and speak over me as I attempted to explain why I am cancelling and didn’t deny any of the things I said about the companies they own (Sky Movers, Top Movers Inc, Best Movers of America etc) and the discrepancies with them.

We are a military family and are moving due to my husbands job, it is truly a disgrace that they would not refund our deposit. No services were rendered and the company misrepresented themselves and falsely advertised themselves as a A rated company on the BBB, also having 5 stars ratings from customers. As you can see from other reviews here that is not the case. I’ve not had any major issues as this with other movers and we have moved many times over the years due to my husbands job in the Military. Be warned and choose just about any other movers and would be a more positive experience than this I’m sure. DO NOT send a Zelle payment to the owner also, not sure why I thought at the time this was a normal practice. Even though it is part of their contract, it is highly unusual to send payment to a company this way by sending to the individual who is the company owner they say.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB, and if necessary will be filing a claim with my attorney if I am unable to resolve the issue and receive a refund in that manner.

Consumer Warning!! Stay Away From This Company!

CONSUMER WARNING! PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

If a NEGATIVE rating were possible, I would elect it. I started working with this company in early Feb 2020. They DID NOT deliver on their services and have since NOT refunded my $1,800. They had me jump through hoops to fill out paperwork and get them notarized just to get SOME of my money back.

THEY SAID I OWE THEM $600 for them to do NOTHING. It's now 24June, and they still have not processed my refund or given any update.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

Look at all the 1-star ratings, and read them with care. Everything was fine until the day of the shipment. They didn't even show up, but they did call me saying they will not ship my ONE item unless I paid a fee of $5,430 for a "dedicated truck". I refused and went with ANOTHER company.

I am a veteran, and they didn't care.

I am a fellow business owner, and they didn't care. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS GETTING AND KEEPING AS MUCH OF YOUR MONEY AS THEY CAN!

STAY AWAY!

PLEASE PAUSE AND STAY AWAY!!

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!

Here are the people I had the displeasure of working with David (owner), Fernando S and George. They will give you THE RUNAROUND. DO NOT TRUST THEM. GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY.

If you've been a victim of this company, I recommend filing a complaint with the FL Attorney General's office. Here's the link:

Worst moving company ever!!

Run as far as you can from this company! I'm in the process of filing a claim and will go through law suit to get our stolen money back!!
the whole experience was a nightmare! they contracted another company (Cross State moving)to pick up and a third party to deliver. the original estimate was for 1400 and we ended up paying 3000 although we were in the exact weight range!.
there was additional $330 deposit that they claimed is for deposit and wasn't deducted from the invoice! we ended up paying it twice and cross state assured us that skymoving will refund it and sky moving told us they have nothing to do with this! they were extremely unprofessional.. throwing blames on others.. and rude!! and did not show any willingness to cooperate! they said this is not our problem!! we just contracted the other companies and you follow your money!!
In addition, every possible thing that could be broken arrived broken!! even the dryer! they made us to pay in advance before we see our stuff! they broke simply everything and worst of all they refused to re assemble our kids beds!! although they assured us from the beginning they will do so. The man who arrived at delivery Alex was extremely rude and in a terrible mood and simply said I don't know and I will not do it after he took the money!
